@Gondalf Did you even read the article? Running Cinebench Renoir is twice as efficient as Picasso. Why do you anticipate heat issues at full load?

Even if we grant that AMD have cherry picked their single threaded benchmark to show a 4% lead, they should at least be equal or very close to equal with Ice Lake in single threaded performance.

Intel might still use less power on idle and with low loads but I suspect that moving to 7nm (in combination with AMD's other improvements) will have significantly reduced that gap.

You think it's sad that AMD have doubled the core count within the same TDP? I think it's sad that Intel finally released Sunny Cove with significant IPC improvements but don't have the capability to make high core count or high frequency chips, and probably won't for a while.

@Solarbear28 - the funniest bit is how hard Gondalf's projecting. He's predicting that AMD won't have enough Renoir chips to go around, which is precisely the situation Intel are in with their 10nm CPUs. As you also noted, the only reason they haven't pushed the core count further... is they cant.

Since when was 4 cores 8 threads "the most wanted" in mobile? Intel didn't even bother offering one until after AMD announced the Ryzen 2000 mobile chips. Why would I limit myself to that when I could have 6/12 for less money?

I'm not going to have any "bad surprises" - I'm not predicting the second coming, here. You're the one pulling out every possible reason you can come up with for this unreleased product to be bad.

Precisely. I have never saw extra cores and threads, in the same TDP envelope, for the same amount of money as some kind of unpleasant surprise. I guess it's only seen as a negative if it's the competitor to your favorite brand that's doing it.

Company releases graphs showing company's own products outperform their competitor's' idiots believe these graphs.

In other news at 11, water remains wet.

    *competitor's,

Heaven forfend that the truth lie somewhere between extremes, and that not everybody who believes these graphs to be a reasonable indication of what to expect is also an idiot.

The_Assimilator you still belive what intel says about its own products... dont you ??
