Samsung is said to have uploaded a promotional Galaxy Note 9 video onto its New Zealand YouTube media channel, depicting the new design as well as a couple of its newer distinguishing features. Samsung deleted the video, but SamMobile was able to download and re-host it.

In the video we see the basic design of the phone. Overall it seems Samsung has kept the changes very minor as the only really distinguishing difference to the Note 8 is the relocation of the fingerprint module from the right side of the horizontal camera setup to a centre placement underneath the cameras.

A big surprise is the advertising of maximum storage of 1TB. Naturally this is achieved by including microSD cards of up to 512GB, but the phone itself having a storage configuration of up to 512GB is notable as it’s the first time a mainstream vendor will be offering such high capacities. In all likelihood this would mean an across-the-board storage bump to 128/256/512GB tiers which is very much welcome.

Lastly Samsung advertises “all-day battery” with the new phone. We don’t usually report on unconfirmed rumours, but it is said that the phone might come with a 4000mAh battery, which represents a 21% increase over the Note 8’s 3300mAh capacity.

Samsung plans to officially launch the Note 9 at the next Unpacked event next Thursday on August 9th, and we’ll be there for hands-on coverage.

I'm happy with an old screen flat screen on my Pixel 2 XL. Say no to infinity edge gimmicks.

I totally agree but what is there aside from Samsung? All the other options are worse.

Going with any of the Chinese brands is gambling on the device never choking or you'll be in a 6 month limbo of atrocious customer service, which is something that tragically goes entirely unmentioned in near enough all reviews of the things. The Pixel looks like Mr. Incredible's face. If you do more than vomit pics onto Facebook and Instagram the iPhone is a no-go, and everything else has this habit of considering reliable, consistent updates for a minimum of two years detrimental to their bottom line.

I'm literally still using my Oneplus One because none of the shyte these companies are pushing are worth the upgrade.

My other half just moved from her beloved OnePlus One to the OnePlus Six. She has no complaints.

I just bought a Note 8 for like $800 AUD about a month ago because I was tired of waiting... My Note 5 was also starting to get tired.
Not to mention the "leaked" improvements with the Note 9 was pretty average... Plus I save about $400-$600 AUD by buying a device that is a year old at this point.

The S-Pen might also become a Bluetooth device so we can control other devices as well with the Note 9... But overall, it's just more of the same.

At-least the jump from my Note 5 to Note 8 was a sizable one, even though Samsung skipped the Note 6 and the Note 7 got recalled.

I think for the Note 10, we will need the under-screen fingerprint scanner, better cameras, full body display... And I would like for a return to a 16:9 aspect ratio, even if the phone ends up wider... Most of the content I consume is 16:9, so the wider screen is essentially wasted.

What the hell does anyone need 1tb of storage on a phone for?

For that somebody who gotta show off his new expensive toy every year so others can go "woooooooow" for like 10 seconds before moving on with their lives.

These devices are meant to last 2 years. There is no reason to hoard data on them. It's depressing to think about building up 1tb of priceless data on a phone. Hasn't anyone who this would have appealed to 5 years ago moved on to the cloud?

Like shoe space, there is oestensibly no limit to the amount of space women need for photos and videos.

This always bothers me. SDXC supports up to 2 TB, so technically this phone is "2.5TB-ready".
