Notebook PCs | Posted by Anand Shimpi & Virginia Lee on Jan 7th, 2005 from CNET News

AMD is getting set to compete with Intel's Centrino platform this year with its own Platform dubbed Turion. While Intel provides all the chips for its Centrino platform, AMD will rely on third party companies such as Broadcom to provide this chips. AMD aims to offer similar performance, battery life, and functionality as the Centrino platform.

So far, code names for Turion chips have not appeared on AMD's public road map, but executives have said the company planned to come out with chips that fit the description.
