For today's holiday buyer's guide we're taking a look at power supplies. I want to kick off this year's guide by once again discussing and clarifying a common misconception among users: that a higher wattage PSU will be better. Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind is that because all switching PSUs have been designed so as to deliver their maximum efficiency at about half-load - about 50% of their rated maximum capacity - that the efficiency of a PSU at any given moment is strongly tied to the load on that PSU.
