I hate programming

by Anand Lal Shimpi on October 21, 2003 1:25 PM EST
So what have I been up to this weekend? Let's see, working on a project for my data structures class...and more of working on a project for my data structures class. Since my partner doesn't know Java, I was the programmer out of the group (which is a shame as he is the much better programmer out of us two) so things took slightly longer than expected. I program for necessity, definitely not for fun, and definitely not for fun when it's for a class that is nothing more than a graduation requirement and well outside of my engineering major. In fact, I don't think I've had a single computer science course at State that I've had respect for or I've learned anything from. Maybe that's just because Engineers are given the worst possible CSC courses at state or some other reason that escapes me at the moment.

Enough of the ranting, let's talk business. Right now Derek is out visiting NVIDIA and a bunch of game developers. I don't have a list of who made the final cut yet but there were some big name developers that were supposed to be at the meeting (I saw it as a response to ATI's Valve/Shader Day). He should be back Wednesday night, just in time to put the finishing touches on his GeForce FX 5700 Ultra review. The card is looking good thus far and from what he's seen he says that the 5600U -> 5700U step is much more of what we all wanted to see from the Radeon 9600 XT. Will it dethrone the Radeon 9700 Pro as the card to get? Well, you'll just have to wait until Thursday and see ;)

These next three weeks are going to be packed full of wonderful exams and such for me so I have yet to finalize what I'm going to be able to work on (although there are a few things that I'd definitely like to tackle, some of the Prescott rumors being one of them).

I just wanted to keep you all updated, you'll see more of me this week (whether or not that's a good thing is up to you ;)...)

Take care.

#98, that's not what I am saying but that is the truth. Most Christians are either Black or White or Asians.

Aren't christians mostly African Americans or White????? If he hated Christians, he wouldn't have hired christian people to work for him.

Sorry, African and White are races smartass

African American is a race and not a religion smartass. And why are you stating the obvious? Yes, its his site. And his site is successful because of us. So why make us mad?

#93, "They are words, if you don't like them don't read them."

It's funny how you say that to someone who owns this site. It's his site so I think he can do whatever he wants. This site wouldn't be here if Anand was a Christian Fundamentalist. He wouldn't have have "White" or "African American" employees working for him.

The reason why myself and others loved this site and keyword went, to it daily was because I knew I could post questions and read peoples reactions to articles and reviews. It was interesting. Now it just sucks. And people swearing and what have you was amusing. What is Anand a christian fundamentalist? They are words, if you don't like them don't read them.

Why not have "hot words" and when a tried post with them by anonymous or a registered user is made the ip is banned..

#90, you might be right but I am sure there must be a good reason for that. There was nothing but flaming and profanity going on in the news posts. Everyone should be talking about hardware/IT industry when here on Anandtech or atleast you can just be nice by not posting a flame message with all the others. I personally AT staff did a good thing but banning anonymous posting because this site was started to turn into trash but now it's all cleaned up.

Banning anonymous posting has nothing to do with hardware or fast reviews. It has to do with ethics. You put it on your site to be unique and then take it off and bann hotmail and aol and whatever. FING BS
