Welcome to the first of what I hope to be many community updates.
AnandTech has been restructuring and reorganizing our forums for a while now, and one of the things we have really wanted to do is to find ways to bring people together. Even within the forums, people tend to stick to the areas they know and don't want to venture out into new territory. But hopefully, by bringing together some of the most interesting topics from across the forums, we will be able to share some of the more interesting topics with all of the readers of AnandTech and help show people what they might otherwise miss in forums they don't frequent.
For the fans of the XBox 360, our Console Gaming Forum features a Forza 2 gaming night on Wednesday. In one race we had a spectacular series of crashes at the end of the first lap of the Maple Valley track resulting in everyone's headsets being filled with laughter. In addition to the race, there is a custom paint job competition that members can vote on Friday through Tuesday. For the multitude of Wii owners out there, one of the long awaited games for they system, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, is finally out. Personally I'm still waiting for the Wii version of Mario Kart. Give me that blue shell baby!

On the PC Gaming side, we've got some interesting discussion on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and why some people love it so much. There is plenty of talk about different mods and the things that make the game interesting. If you've wanted to pick it up but aren't sure you'd be into it, this is a much better place to look than an online review to find out if it's what you're looking for.
While there is always plenty crunching going on in the Distributed Computing forum, Innovation Cooling has stopped by to test their Diamond 7 Carat thermal compound. Members in distributed computing are known for pushing their systems very far for extended periods of time, which is definitely an attractive proposition for a company looking to test their product. We're already getting some results, but it is not too late to participate for anyone interested.
While Off Topic is definitely the place to hang out and talk, we can get down to business when necessary. Tax time is approaching, and thus The Tax Thread has made it's fifth return. From the individual to the business owner, we've got plenty of information and resources to help people understand this years tax code and what it could mean for them.
Near and dear to my heart (since I just flashed my router with dd-wrt a couple weeks ago) is this tutorial on setting up a router as an access point using Tomato. While flashing a router is relatively straight forward, it's easy to brick a device when you start start writing new firmware, so be careful.
Formula 1 season is starting, and our Garage hasn't missed it. For anything automotive, stop on by and check it out.
There's a lot of great stuff on our forums, and we'd love to share it all with you. Please come and join us! If you can log in to post comments on AnandTech.com you can log in to our forums with the same username and password, so there's no reason not to check it out.
Since this is the first of these updates we've done, please let me know what kinds of stuff you'd like to know about in the future.

I like it, sheds light on forums I never visit since there are so many o them now, but maybe the Anandtech page is the wrong place.

Maybe placing it also in OT would help. I know that most of the people in OT rarely if ever visit the main Anandtech website and stay within the forums itself so to get to everyone, maybe put a blog like post in OT that is updated concurrently with this?

A little of topic: I also cant wait on the Ubuntu review, I;m in the same situation, a Windows user that wants to get into Linux, but will KDE 3.5/4 also be covered? I'm not as interested in Gnome but KDE looks like it has made major changes in the 4th revision. It just seems as an easier to use, more attractive and now (possibly) less memory intensive alternative.

Expect the article on that at the end of the month.
