Today, users can take home Samsung’s 980 Pro SSD for its second-lowest price ever. This offer applies only to the heatsink edition.

The 980 Pro has been going for around $220, as of late, but right now it’s listed at Amazon for just $200. This isn’t the lowest price ever but it’s still one of the most notable offers on Samsung's flagship consumer SSD.

Samsung Electronics 980 PRO SSD: was $220, now $200 at Amazon

This 980 Pro has a 1TB storage capacity but it’s also offered in 250GB, 500GB, and 2TB sizes. They all connect using a PCIe 4.0 interface and utilize a custom in-house controller developed by Samsung.

Perhaps the biggest asset to the 980 Pros feature set is its high-performance output. According to the official specifications from Samsung, it’s capable of reaching read/write speeds as high as 7000/5000 MB/s.

Users have access to the Samsung Magician application designed to adjust drive settings and monitor its status. Samsung also offers optional 256-bit AES encryption for extra data protection.

Visit the Samsung 980 Pro SSD product page at Amazon for purchase options.

I'm on a 970 pro and love it. If I bought a drive right now, I have no idea why I would want this 1 TB 980 pro over a 2TB WD 750 Black. I've only had Samsung SSDs, but I'm not smart enough to see what the benefit is here. Reply

    $200 1TB 980 Pro vs $209 2TB WD 750 Black.

Maybe you're not smart enough to see the big difference right there.

It was $149 on amazon about a week ago without the dumb heat sink. Not worth $20-50 for a little piece of aluminum. Temps have been fine and it is incredibly fast, 6.7GB/s out of the box in my x17 r1 Reply

The heatsink isn't dump at all. It's only fine without a heatsink for very light workloads. Heavier workloads even at gen 3 speeds will make it overheat/throttle without one. Reply
