Battery PerformanceOur general method for battery testing is to reset the camera to its default settings and change the recording mode to the highest quality option. Then, we take 5 pictures without the flash and 2 pictures with the flash until the battery is dead. For more information on our battery test, please refer to our Testing Procedures page. The battery was fully drained before charging for the test and the LCD monitor was on.
|Number of shots taken in one battery charge|
|Canon PowerShot S60||1,040|
|Nikon Coolpix 5200||965|
|Pentax Optio X||451|
In our battery test, the DX7590 performed very well, taking 1,217 frames on a single charge. This number is above the average for other 5 megapixel cameras that we have tested. During more casual use of the camera, you probably won't achieve such high numbers as we did. However, you should certainly be able to take this camera on a weekend photo outing without worrying about the battery dying.
