NVIDIA has announced via their website and Twitter feed that the company will be holding a special GeForce livestream this week. The event be broadcast on NVIDIA’s Twitch channel.

NVIDIA has not announced what the event will be for, or any content details, for that matter. However given that it’s a GeForce event and that NVIDIA has already announced their first Pascal architecture GPU for the HPC market, a similar consumer announcement does seem to be the most likely candidate.

Does Twitch pass along money to the person running the stream if they have a substantial number of viewers? I often wonder if there's market appeal for someone who's more likely to be accused of being a cougar than the commonplace teens to twenties girls that get an audience by using a pushup bra and a plunging neckline top.

A release of a new set of consumer GPUs is gaming related, definitely belongs on Twitch.

This is about as tinfoil hat as you can get short of claiming Wal-Mart pays Kellogg for cereal to sell to unsuspecting consumers.

The way I'm reading this is that Anandtech wasn't invited. :/

I think a paper launch on twitch is pretty unlikely at this juncture. More likely an example of a prototype gaming or some such. Just to wet peoples appetites and make sure that they wait for Nvidia's new DX12 ready lineup instead of dropping their cash on the AMD offering at launch, which the consensus is should hit the streets first.

Or they could be trying to WHET people's appetite.

Release Pascal before Polaris? That'd really burn.

That's been the rumor for a while now.

It's looking like it will paper launch before Polaris, but Polaris will ship first, no?
