Ah well, no one's perfect.
That said, I'm pretty psyched to buy one of these.

Is that the new iPhone? It looks just like it, I can't believe how blatant a ripoff this new Samsung iPhone is!

Everyone thought this was to come out on the 18th. AT&T did not dispute this date. It took them 3 days later, after at least a few thousand angry customers complained and asked for a release date, for AT&T to release this information.

I've been really hoping for this phone to come out myself. My 3gs died so I decided to move away form the crap Apple makes. MS just didn't have anything competitive in terms of hardware. Mango just got a release date. I ended up ordering an Infuse from Amazon for $99. I had an upgrade available and AT&T was asking $199. Also, you pay no taxes from Amazon and you get $15 to spend on mobile media for the phone.

As the phone was in transit, I saw the GS2 coming out very soon so I returned the Infuse unopened. AT&T has the worst policy for resetting upgrades. Amazon told me that they are the only company that takes 3 days to reset an upgrade instead of being instant like Sprint and Verizon as soon as Amazon tells the carrier to reset it. So basicaly, I was going to miss the release date and be without a good phone for a few day past the expected 18th launch date. I was annoyed at that, but my hands were tied.

Then the 18th came and went and no GS2 or any information about it. Nothing, none, natta. Not a squeak. There were hundreds posting on forums about their anger. What most were mad about was that AT&T refused to say even the slightest hint of a release date when asked. Many said they were taking their business to Sprint.

So now we finaly got a release date, not on the AT&T website, not even the AT&T website dedicate to the GS2, and certainly not when a AT&T rep was asked it. Instead, they post it on Twitter.

What's sad is by October, people will have a much better idea of what is coming out in the next few weeks to make the GS2 much less appealing. This phone will be a half a year old by then! I know we can't keep playing the what's-next game when holding off buying something, but there will be several major phone releases in the next month.

Oh well, it's kind of funny as the crazy delay seems to be Samsung's fault for not being to make enough of them.
