As we mentioned in our X79 coverage yesterday, none of the motherboard manufacturers were allowed to show BIOS/UEFI screenshots out of fear of accidentally disclosing clock speeds. Gigabyte's X79 motherboards in particular are going to feature a new UEFI setup which we have a few screenshots from in the gallery below.

Just like old BIOS? by gomakeit on Wednesday, September 14, 2011
Seems to me a rather underwhelming implementation of UEFI. The menu looks pretty much the same as the old BIOS just with fancier graphics. ASUS' version seems to leverage the advantages of UEFI better

I don't care what they look like or what they do as long as they make POST times go down.

I'd like the DOS style text to disappear as well. No text mode, straight to native graphics res, useful info instead of meaningless device IRQ detection type stuff and don't disappear before the monitor has warmed up and turned on.

Your not going to get those requests anytime soon, although your system may support coreboot, which at least does a way with most of the silliness.

Clock speeds? by gramboh on Wednesday, September 14, 2011
I thought Intel already published the SB-E clock speeds? I guess these are leaks and not confirmed by Intel yet?

Does any one know or heard rumors about a bios update being implemented to allow current Hybrid EFI bios's to be compatible/updated/flashed with the new UEFI Bios?
