Ultrabooks are a three year play for the industry and it's clear that software & features are going to be a major part of the evolution. Intel showed off two features that'll be present in the first generation of Ultrabooks: Rapid Start & Smart Connect. Rapid Start just enables ultra fast boot times through a combination of UEFI optimizations and the use of an SSD. Smart Connect is a software layer that wakes up your system periodically while it's asleep to download emails, fetch new tweets and other messages that require connectivity.
