Samsung grabbed attention at CES with a new 1 TB Enterprise Drive. Super Talent and Samsung showcased huge SS (Solid State) Drives.

To clarify, this is an enterprise drive in contrast to the Spinpoint F1 1TB that was released 6 months ago?I'm still waiting for a price drop. 1TB drives need to be $250 or less to be cost-effective ~ at least up-front, obviously physical space, power usage and heat dispersion makes a difference too in the choice between 2x500GB and 1x1TB. Still, there shouldn't be $50+ premium for the 1TB version.
I was hoping that drives >1TB (1.25TB, even 1.5TB) would be released in 2007. I haven't even heard mention of them being released in 2008 or 2009. That should drive the 1TB cost down to a reasonable amount.
My next drive will probably be the Spinpoint F1 750GB, currently at Newegg for $170 ($0.226/GB). 4x750GB=3TB for $680 instead of 3x1TB for $840, which is the added cost of another 750GB drive. Still, the Samsung drives are the cheapest of the bunch by far.

I would guess something to help with silencing the drive, maybe it has to do with air turbulence inside the drive when the platters are spinning. Extra magnetic shielding maybe? Really don't know but they wouldn't have put it there without a reason.
