Whew...almost done

by Anand Lal Shimpi on April 14, 2005 1:14 PM EST
A day later than originally planned, my dual core Intel platform shootout is online. The comparison is nForce4 vs. 955X, and most of the results are as expected - but the NCQ tests are particularly interesting.

There's that NDA tomorrow that we may end up missing simply because I want to focus all of my efforts on next week's dual core comparison. We'll see what happens, but that's what it's looking like for now.

I apologize for not keeping you all updated here, I've literally been spending at least 16 of every 24 hours of every day testing/writing/trying-to-stay-sane :) With nForce4 out of the way, now it's time to really get things in gear and work on this dual core stuff. Now the fun starts (in both the positive and negative connotations) :)

I'll update you over the next couple of days as things progress.

I would like to know the performance of the i915GMm-HFS. I have been trying to buy one but they are all sold out. Has anyone tested it?

    Anand (or anyone that knows),

How does Cool & Quiet work with dual cores? Do both cores trottle down at the same time?

    What about Intel's version?

    Thanks

Please review the Aopen i915GMm-HFS pentium M board!

It would be like old times at anandtech if you could verify the OC capability with a 715, 725, 735, 760 and find the sweet spot processor (the 300A) for performance and affordability.

It would also be interesting to see how DDR2 changes the memory performance envelope on the M. Does DDR2 667 permit 1:1 (mem/bus)on a 1.5GHZ 715 chip to run at 2.5GHZ?

I find it amusing how Anand is able and willing to completely flaunt the Opteron launch date about but hasnt let slip at all what this 'less intersting' item they may or may not be doing tomorrow is, hehe.

Actually, Anand has mentioned that a new news system is on the way... maybe on the Aniv. it will debut??

Hey, I was wondering if you guys could create a seperate news page just for press releases. Its kind of annoying when the news has a few screens worth of some company feeling really good about itself.

Firingsquad did it and I like it a lot, really makes the news a lot better.

    Soon enough I suppose...
