I am absolutely ecstatic from what I've seen of the DSM4.2 update. No way in hell I'm installing a Beta OS onto my NAS, but the addition of Amazon Glacier backup, better Package Management and the ability to set up your own RADIUS server are all quite exciting.Reply
I just updated my DS212j to 4.1 but 4.2 looks a much bigger step up then 4.1 was to me coming from 4.0.
The new package center is definitely needed but what they missed talking about here was Synology creating a paid app environment within the package center. Now will now be apps that can be purchased and a AV solution is first of these paid apps. This new feature opens opportunities to monetize apps on a NAS. This is the first I've heard of this in the industry!Reply

Where the hell is their DS213j? It's been over 18 months since the DS212j came out. Replyganeshts - Friday, January 11, 2013 - link
I think it has been replaced by the DS213air. The DS213 is available. ReplySolidstate89 - Thursday, January 10, 2013 - link

"The apps also get some updates with DS Video expanding mobile platform support" does this mean the app will become available on Android? That would be nice. Reply

Bit late to the conversation but check this out: http://mikebeach.org/2013/01/08/synology-releases-...I am not thrilled about myds either. It reeks of cisco/linksys. Reply
