Er, that is, unless I win the Gigabyte X79-UD5.

It's probably time I upgraded anyway and this provides an appropriate excuse to spend around $600 on a processor.

I can almost afford it too - just need to give a couple pints of blood and sell my old schwag....

Anybody want a Pentium 4 Northwood? (with HYPERthreading!)

    Count me in.

I am currently running a AMD FX-57 and it's days are numbered. The Asus a8n32-sli deluxe motherboard I have is just about dead. One of my video cards on the south bridge doesn't even show up and its not the card. If I had a new board I could upgrade my ram and CPU and be in good shape for school next semester. 2011 Looks to be something that may not see full potential until Ivy Bridge but it is a good thing that Intel looks as though they are going to use the same socket for at least 2 generations.

This is coming from someone using an i& Lynnfield (Socket 1156) Love my board and have no complaints about the performance but wish I could have the option to upgrade at a later date without throwing away a perfectly good motherboard. This is one of the few areas AMD has an advantage over intel.

What I do not understand is all of the complaining on the net that this chip does not have higher IPC than the other SB chips...No one should have expected more, if my memory serves me right Intel never claimed higher IPC, just a quad channel, graphic-less version on a platform that supports more PCI-E lanes with the SB core. Just finished up the Beta Test for SWToR, and it looks like I'll need to upgrade from my Core2 Duo + Asus Maximus Extreme. Needed to turn down the graphics to low, shadows off, etc.

The story and flashpoints (4 person dungeon for you WoW fans) are amazing! I loved playing Mandalorian Raiders, Athiss, and Hammer Station. Several boss battles and different strategies needed. Definitely need to find a good group to avoid wiping.

Congress is like Windows, easily corruptable and suspectible to viruses.

    ----

My girlfriend once said to me, "I'm considering getting a Mac."
I glanced at her and said, "Oh, that is perfectly acceptable and I don't have any elitism when it comes to brands. Cool!"

I once tried to think of something witty, clever, and funny to write to leave as a comment because I thought that would somehow boost my chances of my comment being picked, but alas,

    I.

    NOT.
    FUNNY.

I would return the stupid board if I could, but I can't bought it at MicroCenter.
