It's nice to see a company other than Apple build up some suspense. It's like they have a marketing dept that's advising them. Reply

Ultimately it was worth posting for us because it allowed us to tell you when the NDA expires. I know there were rumors about the 22nd, so setting the record straight lets you guys know when to expect the article. Reply

So essentially, a significantly downclocked (160MHz core, 320MHz shader, 588MHz RAM)) pair of 580s. At stock speeds, two 570s should theoretically outpace this, though at super high resolutions and detail levels, the new card may get a leg-up on its SLi competition due to the extra memory.

I can't see it being competitive with the 6990, but we'll see in two days. Perhaps NVIDIA don't want to compete directly, and only want a killer solution at a particular price point. Looking forward to the reviews.

  • Gami - Tuesday, March 22, 2011 - link

so, it'll take up 6 slots? Reply
  • silverblue - Tuesday, March 22, 2011 - link

Meaning it's too long for the box, so it has to be positioned diagonally to fit. The box doesn't look amazingly long, and yet quite a bit too tall, to fit a 11-12" card.

Maybe NVIDIA have something very special/innovative in store.

Here let me translate this video from marketing speak, it says...

"Look, we know Crysis 2 comes out today, but our new video card doesn't come out for 2 more days. I know we're running a bit late but please don't buy an ATI card yet. C'mon, please? It's only 2 days! Just wait a little longer. You can use the extra time to carefully read the Crysis 2 instruction manual... and to scrounge up about $800 or so. Don't ask, just do it. Okay? Good. See you Thursday, and don't forget to bring the briefcase of cash."

    Time to wake up.

As many people have said there was no word whatsoever on the Vertex 2 25nm issue, but they do take their time to post a Nvidia commercial.

That's just how it is here now.

People call this "suspense" and say they are "excited", but all they are doing is letting themselves be manipulated by marketing departments that only want your cash. Yes, that is what we have come to.

Still waiting for something better than 8800GT aka 9800GT aka 250GT.

Everything since then has been nothing more than "maybe if we throw another 100 watts of power at it we can make it go faster".

Didn't Intel have this philosophy with its CPU's around 5 years ago with the P4?

Show me a modern VGA card with double the framerate of an 8800GT with the same power draw, then I'll get excited.

Do you get paid per ad(like in this case), by a certain number of ads, or a one time payment for a year or longer?

I need to advertise for my product, nBacon, but the product is really crappy, so I had to invent cool names describing it like: nBacon SurroundBacon6D and BacX, to try to offload the crap, but it doesn't work out.

Since you are selling "editorial articles"(hahaha let the mf's be fooled..) to nVidia, maybe you can sell your soul to me to.

Since my products are shit, and can't measure up to the competition, I will make a once off, liquid helium cooled, will fail in one hour special gLh,WtF,Gs edition, that you can compare to my competitors normally cooked bacon. It will be priced at $0.1, but hey, I will only make one so you can have it for free(And a lot of cash for you)(of course I will say it is widely available to the idiot consumers)

BTW, is "Ryan Smith" the other name for Keysplayer or Apoppin?

    with love(for money)

awww :( thats a moment in time ill never get back. I was at least expecting a peak... or maybe a booth girl or three. but Nooo i get a creapy guy talking about an ammo can that says top secret... :(( there was nothing of value with this article :(( I would of rather waited for the review and say "COOL NEW REVIEW" Now im going to have to expect a total beating of AMD... otherwise I will complain again! and it will be about hyping and playing favorits! Or you can go out there and post EVERY YOUTUBE VIDEO OUT THERE that has something to do with a yet to be released product.... It is only fair. :D

until shown otherwise... Im playing the AT playing favorits card! that or the Someone at AT dosent know what news is card! take your pick :D. Ill post the link to the review of these cards in a video that showes you when the NDA is up :D cant tell ya what it does till then though... or what its specs are officialy... OR COLOR... but i think i can dig up a fat guy with an ammo BOX >.< should make front page :D

Dont think i forgot about the Nvidia overclocker that was thrown into the AMD video card premier.

THATS STRIKE TWO! one more strike and I will officialy brand this place as Nvidia Biast... Unless you have another video with no usefull infromation, a creapy guy ( i dont know something creaps me out about him... My bean borritos are not safe around him i garanteeee) some strange box saying ausome is comming in 2 days... and an AMD logo.

can any one tell me how this is news... the closes thing i can think of is news thats about news thats suppose to come out! theres not even anything really intresting in it... its like going to a store and seeing the out for lunch sing at an all black booth that says "ITS COMING THIS YEAR"in bold letters. your want to be really excited... but in the end theres NOTHING THERE!

Ok... i think thats enough venting... strike two in my book though.

Almost all current PC games are being watered down to support 5 year crap console HW. You don't need to spend more than $200 on a single video card to run almost all games at max settings - now including Crysis 2. About the only thing you will be able to throw at this card to see what it is capable of is benchmarks. Reply

Ryan, if possible, could you manage to do something with this review using Crysis 2? Preferably a short 30sec video or something on a large screen?

    Thanks,

Am I getting old and out of the loop? I've got a 5850 and it seems pretty damn good in high detail 1920x1200 :/

Also - for the love of christ Anandtech, please save the cookie for the comments here? Something is broken - maybe it's the java or something, I don't know but it never remembers my account - use a different login box where firefox can actually save it!
