Don't understand why acer is lanching the AspireRevo AR3700 nettop and the Aspire AZ3100
within 2-3 months there existence will be useless when AMD bobcat is launched. Sure Acer must have those Engineering samples of this platform and a roadmap with exact dates has been around for almost a year by now.

funny how they add the 470 in there higher end system and 5850 in the lower end, general performance/power design would have been obvious to stick a 460 into the 5900 (to please the nvidia name buying fans) while sticking a 5850/5870 into the 7750

nice examples how market driven these verndors are in stead of best solution driven...

oh btw the Predator is ugly, but a bit better then the previous version.

Seems like a lot of the net-top devices suffer from really bad execution and time to market delays. They'd sell a lot more units if they launches the net top closer to Intel's launch, preferably, the same day.

I'm ambivalent on the Acer desktop's though, you should be buying your own desktop anyway. One should only buy prebuilts for nettops, notebooks, tablets, and other specialty devices. For a standard desktop computer, you're far better off building it yourself. More control, more choice, more flexible warranties.

    I know what you mean!

    AMD's 2011 releases fits in Acer's line-up reasonably well...

AspireRevo AR3700 is just begging for some "Ontario" (9W) love!

    Aspire AZ3100 needs "Zacate" (18W)

    Aspire AZ5700 with "Llano" ?

...Isn't "Llano" going to be 59W TDP in quad-core (modified K10.5) config with a hefty GPU-based IGP?
(The current Core i5-650 it is using is already spec'ed at 73W TDP.)

Their prices for all their new laptop and desktop lines are way too high.

They do understand that they are a cheap "value" brand in the eyes of the consumer, dont they?

Until prices go back down to "value" levels I dont see any of Acers new models doing well in the market.

To my memory, their MSRP's are typically higher than the actual prices that you pay. As there are always discounts and rebates.

It could also be that they are trying to move up market a bit.

I currently own the AR1600 version of that nettop, which is very similar but sells for $199 instead of $350. When I got it the performance was a little low, but I put in an Intel 80GB SSD and put it in there and it came alive. And it's about the same cost as this one.

I'm sure the second core and the extra 1GB of memory would be nice, but it's not worth $150 to me.

Also, on something this low powered, you should be running windows xp, not 7.

I use mine as an HTPC connected to my TV via HDMI. It's silent and it can handle anything I throw at it. Even 1080P is no problem with only (~20% CPU usage.)

This is a great little computer, but the new model has too steep of a price.

This is what I don't get: a $350 nettop with 2GB RAM and a dual-core Atom is "too steep of a price", and yet you took your $200 single-core 1GB RAM Atom and tossed in a $150 80GB SSD. You end up at the same price, and while your nettop has better storage performance, the lack of RAM and second core are definitely issues for some tasks. Ideally, though, as others pointed out this new model would have launched about four months back. Then it would have been a lot more compelling. Reply
