09:51AM EDT - We're readying up for a Live Blog of the Microsoft event in NYC. Panos Panay is expected to take to the stage, with Major Nelson from the Xbox team in tow (we believe) for some new announcements. The presentation is set to start at 10am ET, and we'll fire up the Live Blog as it starts!

09:54AM EDT - Less than 10 minutes to go

I wonder what other telemetry they have in store for Windows users? Can't wait to get more of my data harvested! :^)
  • Bullwinkle J Moose - Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - link

Yeah, It's a really sad state of affairs when an unlicensed copy of XP-SP2 abandonware without any MS updates provides more security than a brand new "Legit" copy of Spyware Platform 10

An aftermaket firewall stops ALL Microsoft components from sending or receiving and Driveshield stops ALL persistent threats (except the end user)

Not worried about extortionware at all here

Wouldn't use it for online banking though...
That's what Linux Live is for!
  • SpartanJet - Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - link

    HAHA

Yes this is the year for Linux! (running joke for 20+ years). Good luck with that and I'm sure you are one of those idiots complaining about security but you hand over all your personal data to that ad company by using ADroid.
  • Bullwinkle J Moose - Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - link

    You are sure!
    and you are wrong

I don't mind using Spyware Platform 10 for security purposes....
after I disable ALL networking components and use Truecrypt Full Disk Encryption on my Win2Go ThumbDrive

Yes kids, Truecrypt 6 and 7 are fully compatible with WintoGo using either Windows 8 or 10

Just make an MBR partition and Stay the He&^ offline

Encryption does no good with Microsoft backdoors

    Windows 10 is like cake
They sell you the cake as they eat it too
    Don't trust the cake

    The cake is a lie
  • Alexvrb - Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - link

So you don't use Android? Cause Android harvests more data than you can believe. Google is 90% ad revenue, and that means selling your every move to the highest bidder. I hope you're using a nice homebrew Linux phone, the way you're spouting off.

Oh, and Truecrypt has critical flaws and was abandoned by its creators. True story.
  • Bullwinkle J Moose - Thursday, October 27, 2016 - link

    That's funny Alexvrb

Can you point out the "critical flaw" in the Truecrypt Source code
We would all love to see it

or should we all trust Microsoft because they are so honest, they must hide what they are doing in their source code

There must be a reason why the NSA has a codename for Bitlocker

Do they call it "Instant Access" because every encrypted disk uses a 32 digit Key identifier?

You do realise that the Courts would protect Microsoft Source code if they diddn't steal other peoples work or are hiding backdoors

If they have nothing to hide, they wouldn't be hiding the source code

They have proven themselves untrustworthy with our data at every turn so until we can verify the sourcecode, they must not be trusted

Trust is not a "feature" they can simply tack-on or win by defaming anyone who opposes their tactics

There is a bit more to it than that
  • ddriver - Thursday, October 27, 2016 - link

I use android without google services installed. It harvests literally nothing. You can easily get android without google, only the open source part, most roms today install without any google cr@p, which you have to install additionally, if you so chose.
  • arrakis_oasis - Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - link

XP-SP2 more secure? What a joke. Another tin-foil hatter here, move along.
  • Bullwinkle J Moose - Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - link

    you mad bro?

I haven't had a bluescreen of death in XP for the past 10 years
It boots up in less than half the time that Spyware Platform 10 boots
It doesn't get infected with persistent threats

I can safely check out all the latest threats and malware sites without worry of infections
    Pron sites too!

Try that with your precious Malware Platform 10

    I dare ya

    More secure?
    You better believe it

    It's YOUR a$$ if you don't

I can even run software that Microsoft doesn't want me too
